Sloane, a handsome and amoral young man charms his way into the household of the middle-aged and emotionally desperate Kath and her prurient brother Ed. The sibling
pair compete for the affections of their new lodger in a game of sexual tug-of-war,
which leads to dark secrets, blackmail and murder.
Olivier award-winning actress Imelda Staunton plays Kath. Her many stage credits include There Came a Gypsy Riding (Almeida), Calico (Duke of Yorks), Life x 3, The
Beggar’s Opera, A Chorus of Disapproval and Guys and Dolls at the National Theatre.
Her extensive television and film work includes Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,
Vera Drake, for which she received many awards and nominations world-wide including
an Academy Award nomination, Nanny McPhee, Bright Young Things, Shakespeare in
Love and Cranford.
Mathew Horne plays the eponymous Sloane. Mathew’s television credits include the
award-winning BBC TV comedy series Gavin and Stacey, The Catherine Tate Show and
Roman’s Empire. His film credits include Lesbian Vampire Killers which will be released in
March 2009. Mathew’s new sketch show Horne and Corden is co-written with co- star
James Corden and directed by Kathy Burke. It will be broadcast on BBC in 2009.
Simon Paisley Day plays Ed. Simon’s theatre credits include Timon of Athens (Globe), The
Ugly One (Royal Court), The 39 Steps (Tricycle/West End) and The Philanthropist (Donmar
Warehouse). His television credits include Midsomer Murders, Dr Who, The Catherine Tate
Show and The Belsen Redemption.
Richard Bremmer plays Dada. Richard’s theatre credits include most recently How to Disappear Completely and Never be Found (Sheffield and Southwark Playhouse), Nicholas Nickleby (Chichester-Gielgud Theatre), Bent (Trafalgar Studios) and
Great Expectations (RSC). His television credits include Kingdom, Miss Marple, Crusoe
and Coronation Street.
Directed by Nick Bagnall, this dark study of sexual
manners is a co-production with Michael Edwards & Carole Winter and
English Touring Theatre.
Entertaining Mr Sloane is designed by Peter McKintosh with costumes designed by Colin Richmond. The lighting designer is Simon Mills and sound designer is Mike Furness. The Artistic Associate is Kathy Burke.
